An Uzbek woman was arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport for allegedly pilfering three high-end handbags from a baggage carousel, according to an official statement issued on Monday.
Mayramkan Karabasheva Alibaevna, 60, known for her business trips to India, was detained following a look out circular released by Delhi Police. The apprehension followed a complaint from Ishita Kullar, a Gurugram resident, who reported the theft after traveling from Kuala Lumpur in June.
State-of-the-art CCTV footage provided by the IGI Airport shed light on the incident, revealing a foreign national picking up the handbags unwittingly left behind on the conveyor belt. Additional video traced her departure from the airport, leading law enforcement to her Paharganj hotel, where the stolen goods were eventually found.
