The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau has made an arrest in a bribery case involving a revenue department official. Chuni Lal, the patwari of Halqa Dansal, was apprehended on Friday for demanding illegal payment to issue a land demarcation report in Jammu district.
The bureau received a complaint stating that Chuni Lal asked for a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 to provide the necessary documentation. Following negotiations, the amount was reduced to Rs 75,000, with an initial installment of Rs 25,000 required.
The complainant managed to gather Rs 20,000 and contacted the ACB, leading to Chuni Lal's arrest. The bureau laid a trap and caught him accepting the bribe, proceeding to arrest the official and conduct searches at his office and in-laws' residence.
