A Delhi court on Friday greenlit Congress leader Karti Chidambaram's travel plans to Europe amid ongoing legal proceedings. Chidambaram is embroiled in purported corruption cases tied to the Aircel-Maxis and INX Media scandals.

Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh authorized the travel, emphasizing that it's an essential aspect of the constitutional right to life and liberty. Chidambaram had been previously granted similar permissions without any record of misuse, the court noted.

Strict conditions were set, with the accused required to provide a security deposit and abstain from opening foreign accounts or tampering with evidence. The cases are part of a wider investigation involving prominent figures including Chidambaram's father, former Union minister P Chidambaram.
