The Congress party has launched a scathing attack on the BJP, accusing them of failing to prevent crimes against women in their governed states. The Mahila Congress, led by Alka Lamba, is demanding compensation and security for victims' families, in addition to establishing fast-track courts for swift justice.
Lamba spotlighted various incidents, including the tragic case of a 15-year-old girl from Odisha, who died after being set on fire. She also referenced an alarming statistic from Madhya Pradesh, where over 7,000 SC-ST women were reported raped between 2022 and 2024.
Highlighting the BJP's alleged inefficacy, Lamba called attention to controversial actions by law enforcement against Christian missionaries in Chhattisgarh and criticized societal warnings against women's freedom in Gujarat. She further discussed the conviction of Prajwal Revanna in Karnataka, for which Lamba praised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's intervention.
