Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu vowed to enhance grassroots democracy by launching a performance-based governance system centered on the Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0.
During a state-level workshop, Khandu emphasized the state's pioneering move to allocate 10% of state-owned revenue directly to panchayati raj institutions, marking a significant shift towards decentralization and self-governance.
The PAI 2.0 aims to evaluate panchayati raj institutions' effectiveness in planning, transparency, service delivery, and citizen participation. Recognizing exceptional performers, PAI Puraskar awards were presented to districts excelling in these areas.
