Electricity Board Employees Demand Justice Outside Shimla Headquarters

The employees and pensioners of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) are gearing up for a protest at the board's Shimla headquarters on August 7, driven by grievances over unfufilled longstanding demands.

Key issues at the heart of the protest include the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), settlement of pending payments, and taking action against alleged corruption within the board, according to Devender Sharma, Joint Secretary of the HP Electricity Board Pensioners' Association.

Sharma noted a significant discrepancy between the reported Rs 314 crore profit claimed by the state government and the unresolved issues faced by employees. Additionally, he raised concerns over potential board privatization efforts, which employees and pensioners firmly oppose.
