Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated 184 newly built Type-VII multi-storey flats for Members of Parliament at Baba Kharak Singh (BKS) Marg in the national capital. The modern housing complex, a major addition to parliamentary infrastructure, is aimed at providing MPs with state-of-the-art, comfortable, and environmentally sustainable residences in close proximity to the Parliament House.

The Prime Minister also planted a Sindoor sapling in the complex premises, symbolizing growth and commitment to sustainable urban development. During his visit, he interacted warmly with Shramjeevis—the workers and engineers who contributed to the project’s timely completion.
The ceremony was attended by Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla; Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs and Power, Shri Manohar Lal; Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju; Chairperson, House Committee (Lok Sabha), Dr. Mahesh Sharma; and numerous Members of Parliament and dignitaries.
Lok Sabha Speaker’s Address: Vision and Progress
Addressing the gathering, Shri Om Birla expressed deep gratitude to the Prime Minister for his consistent focus on creating world-class infrastructure for both the public and elected representatives. He emphasized that the new residences ensure immediate and adequate housing for Lok Sabha Members, thereby enabling them to perform their legislative duties efficiently without delays in allotment.
Highlighting the infrastructural progress of the last eleven years under PM Modi’s leadership, Shri Birla cited landmark projects such as:

Timely construction of the new Parliament Building.

Installation of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s statue at Kartavya Path.

Development of the National War Memorial and Police Memorial.

Creation of Bharat Mandapam, Yashobhoomi, and Kartavya Bhawan.
He noted that 344 new houses have been built for Lok Sabha Members during this period, with the latest complex comprising four towers named Kosi, Krishna, Godavari, and Hooghly—each reflecting India’s cultural heritage and unity.
Ahead-of-Schedule Completion and Cost Efficiency
The BKS Marg project stands out for its early completion, achieved ahead of schedule through meticulous planning and modern construction technologies. Constant monitoring ensured high-quality standards, while efficient execution led to savings of approximately ₹46 crore from the allocated budget.
Shri Birla extended appreciation to the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Central Public Works Department (CPWD), and the dedicated engineers, architects, and workers for their coordinated efforts in making the project a success.

Designed as a self-sufficient residential hub, the complex integrates eco-friendly systems and complies with GRIHA 3-star rating standards as well as the National Building Code (NBC) 2016. Key features include:
