China reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful reunification with Taiwan, declaring it will use its greatest efforts to achieve this aim. The statement comes in response to comments by U.S. President Donald Trump.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump mentioned that Chinese President Xi Jinping assured him over a call that China would not invade Taiwan while Trump is in office.
China remains firm on its stance that no entity shall separate Taiwan from China, according to foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning during a regular briefing.
