Congress Calls for Rehabilitation in Cloudburst-Hit Kathua

In the wake of devastating cloudbursts in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir Congress leadership has demanded immediate government action for rehabilitating affected residents. The party visited relief camps, extending its support and condolences to families of the 71 deceased and 122 injured.
Raman Bhalla, Congress's working president, highlighted the need for a special Central relief package, emphasizing the urgency of financial support and alternative shelter for those displaced. He also stressed compensating families for losses, including a proposed Rs 10 lakh for each life lost.
Congress leaders raised alarms over the safety of those in Maggar Khad where infrastructure vulnerabilities pose further risk. They vowed to hold authorities accountable to ensure timely rehabilitation and safety measures.
