The Congress has accused the Election Commission (EC) of obstructing the Karnataka CID's investigation into alleged voter deletions by withholding crucial data. Rahul Gandhi condemned the EC's response to his allegations as mere excuses, while urging the poll body to release the requested information.
The EC has denied these accusations, refuting claims by Gandhi that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is protecting 'vote chors' or vote thieves. It emphasized that any voter deletions cannot occur without giving affected individuals a chance to be heard.
Citing evidence from a Karnataka constituency, Gandhi alleged systematic deletion of Congress supporters' votes and demanded that CEC Kumar release evidence to aid the CID's investigation. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra echoed these concerns, questioning the EC's reluctance to comply. Meanwhile, the Congress shared a letter from the Karnataka CEO appealing for data, claiming the EC is shielding those responsible for the malpractice.
