The Tamil Nadu government is under pressure to address the demands of state transport and sanitation workers. CPI(M) state secretary P Shanmugam has called for swift action, stressing that any delay in negotiations would be unfair.
Transport workers are demanding resolution on retirement benefits, pension restoration, and dearness allowance. Meanwhile, sanitation workers in Chennai oppose the Greater Chennai Corporation's plan to privatise solid waste management, voicing concerns over job security.
