The Madras High Court has issued a directive to the Tamil Nadu government, urging them to develop comprehensive guidelines for all political parties regarding the organization of campaigns, meetings, and rallies. This decision comes in response to a petition submitted by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-politician Vijay.
Justice N Sathish Kumar, who presided over the case, has also instructed the state to collect a security deposit from political parties hosting such events, aimed at indemnifying and repairing any potential damages caused during these gatherings.
The court has scheduled further hearings for September 24. The petition requests that police authorities swiftly process permissions for TVK's campaign events scheduled from September 20 to December 20, 2025, following a representation lodged on September 9, 2025.
