In a daring escape, two juvenile inmates of a remand home in Jharkhand's Gumla district managed to flee by scaling a 30-foot wall using bedsheets. The incident, which occurred around Thursday midnight, was brought to light on Friday, police confirmed.
Gumla SP Haris Bin Zaman disclosed that the two teenagers had been detained earlier for stealing tribal drums and lacked a previous criminal record. Despite a swift escape, police teams, helped by CCTV footage, located the juveniles near their residences at Khariapara and returned them to custody.
Authorities are now conducting a detailed investigation into the escape and potential security lapses. The jail superintendent remains unreachable for comment, while a remand home official noted that the escapees had meticulously planned their departure, exploiting the rotating guard shifts and the use of barbed wires as leverage.
