Mass Protests Erupt in Manipur Over Controversial Arrest

In a significant escalation of local tensions, protests ignited in Ningthoukhong town, Manipur, following the arrest of a local resident by security forces on Friday, according to officials.

The individual, identified as Thokchom Romen, aged 45, was detained by police at approximately 7 PM on Thursday for alleged illegal activities, sparking community outrage.

Led by women, demonstrators obstructed traffic, including security convoys on Tiddim Road, for over three hours, demanding Romen's immediate release. The blockade concluded only after discussions with authorities.
