Tragic End: Engineering Student's Demise Highlights Financial Harassment

A 19-year-old engineering student allegedly committed suicide following harassment over a financial dispute. He was forced to foot a large bill and threatened at a party, as per a video he left behind. A case involving abetment of suicide and extortion is under investigation.

A 19-year-old engineering student was found dead in a private hostel in Narapally, Hyderabad, allegedly due to suicide. Police suspect that the student was driven to this extreme step following harassment linked to a financial disagreement among peers.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the dispute arose during a party at a local bar, where an altercation ensued over splitting the bill. The student was reportedly coerced into paying a bill of Rs 10,000.

A video message left by the victim alleged that local youths threatened and assaulted him. Police have filed a case of abetment of suicide and extortion, alongside charges under the SC/ST Act, based on his father's complaint. Investigations are ongoing.
