In a significant breakthrough, Uttar Pradesh police arrested Siraj Ahmad, aged 50, for drug trafficking. Authorities seized more than 4 kg of morphine, valued at Rs 4.15 crore, from a truck in which the contraband was hidden.
According to police officials, Siraj Ahmad is from Shahjahanpur and was found to be a significant player in an inter-state narcotics network. He allegedly sourced the drugs from Nagaland and distributed them across several districts in Uttar Pradesh.
The arrest followed a late-night operation by a police team, which intercepted the truck on Dohra Road. During interrogation, Ahmad disclosed the role of his accomplice, Surendra Sharma, believed to be the network's mastermind, who remains at large.
