In a significant crackdown, enforcement agencies have seized cash, drugs, liquor, and precious metals worth over Rs 71 crore in Bihar following the announcement of the assembly elections, according to the Election Commission on Tuesday.
Despite Bihar's 2016 ban on alcohol, liquor remains among the confiscated items. The Election Commission disclosed that as of October 21, through a strategic multi-agency effort, they have seized Rs 71.32 crore in cash, drugs, liquor, precious metals, and other valuables across various states and Union territories.
The Election Commission announced on October 6 that Bihar will conduct polls in two phases, on November 6 and 11, with vote counting scheduled for November 14. To ensure rapid response to complaints, 824 flying squads are actively deployed across the state. Citizens and political parties are urged to report any model code violations using the C-Vigil mobile app or the ECINET digital platform.
