In West Bengal, show cause notices have been served to around 1,000 booth-level officers for failing to adhere to election-related directives as mandated by the Representation of the People Act, 1950, according to a senior official.

The officers reportedly did not register themselves on the ERO-NET portal despite multiple reminders from the Electoral Registration Officer, leading to accusations of ignoring official duties.

The notices claim this oversight equals neglect and dereliction under Section 32, demanding the officers explain within three days why they should not face disciplinary actions for their non-compliance.
