Turkey Extends Peacekeeping Mandate to Support Regional Stability

Turkey's renewed deployment mandates include continued support for the Lebanese army and addressing security threats in Syria and Iraq. The Turkish parliament extended its military mandate for Lebanon by two years and for Syria and Iraq by three, aiming to enhance security conditions and regional peace.

Turkey has reaffirmed its commitment to regional stability by extending its military deployments in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq, the Defence Ministry announced on Thursday. Turkish peacekeeping forces will aid in bolstering the Lebanese army's capabilities under a renewed United Nations mandate.

Amid ongoing regional tensions, Turkey's parliament has passed a bill extending the military presence in Lebanon for two more years and in Syria and Iraq for three. Efforts are focused on enhancing peace and stability across these regions, with special emphasis on aiding Lebanon's army.

Additionally, Turkey has expressed frustration over the stalled integration of the Syria Democratic Forces into Syria's administration, warning of potential military action. It continues to regard the SDF as a terrorist group linked to the PKK and urges their disarmament process to go hand in hand with peace efforts between Syria and its allies.
