Customs Foil Cigarette Smuggling Attempt at Nagpur Airport

Customs officials have intercepted and seized foreign-origin cigarettes worth Rs 14 lakh at Nagpur's Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. The smuggling attempt involved two passengers arriving from Sharjah. A total of 701 boxes containing 1,40,200 cigarettes were found hidden in their luggage.

In a successful operation, customs officials at Nagpur's Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport foiled a smuggling attempt involving foreign-origin cigarettes.

The incident occurred on Sunday when two passengers arriving from Sharjah were intercepted. Officials unearthed 701 boxes containing 1,40,200 cigarettes concealed in their luggage.

Valued at Rs 14 lakh, the cigarettes were confiscated under the Customs Act, launching a probe into the incident to unravel any further connections, as stated by officials on Tuesday.
