The tragic quarry collapse in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, has claimed the lives of seven individuals. Officials confirmed the death toll after recovering another body from the debris, identified as Gulab Kharwar from Obra.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with officials fearing that a dozen workers may still be trapped following the collapse at a Krishna Mining Works site. The state government has implemented a three-tier investigation involving police, mining, and district administration.
Compensation of Rs 20 lakh per deceased worker's family is promised. Authorities have also initiated legal action against the quarry owner and associates on complaints of negligence and illegal mining activities.
