A local court has handed down a seven-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to a man for the rape of a minor girl, corroborated by a Rs 30,000 fine, officials reported on Tuesday.
The incident dates back to October 5, 2018, when a complaint was lodged by the victim's father at the Bhondsi police station, alleging the 14-year-old was lured and raped by the accused.
Following an investigation and the filing of a chargesheet, the court, presided over by additional session judge Jasmine Sharma, ruled on the basis of evidence and witness accounts, leading to the man's conviction under the POCSO Act.
