A tragic boating accident claimed three lives in the Rywada reservoir in Anakapalli district over the weekend, police confirmed on Monday. A small boat, meant for two, carried four individuals and overturned about 150 meters from shore.

Jalada Prasad emerged as the sole survivor of the incident. Authorities identified one of the deceased as Ganjai Jeevan; his body has been recovered, while efforts to find the others continue. The depth of the reservoir poses a challenge to search teams.

The State Disaster Management Force (SDRF) is actively involved in the search operations. Police have filed a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) as investigations proceed.
