Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has accepted his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi's invitation to visit India. This decision emerged after bilateral discussions between the two leaders at the G20 summit held in South Africa.

According to a statement from the office of the Canadian Prime Minister, Carney is slated to visit India in early 2026. During their talks, the leaders emphasized the expansion of collaborations in defense, space, trade, investment, technology, and energy.

Both nations have committed to launching negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), covering goods, services, digital trade, and more. This marks a significant step towards normalizing relations after tensions post-2023 allegations. Regular reciprocal high-level visits are also on the agenda to strengthen diplomatic ties.
