The assault occurred in Khatlon province, with a drone delivering grenade fire, leaving one more Chinese citizen injured. China's embassy has recommended evacuation of the area while urging Tajik authorities to investigate the attack.
Although the specific perpetrators remain unidentified, Afghanistan's foreign ministry described the incident as an attempt to sow chaos and instability in the region. Both Afghanistan and Tajikistan have pledged to work together in addressing the aftermath.
