Controversy Heats Up Over Voter List Revision

In Uttar Pradesh, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna has addressed mounting concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, calling such worries unfounded. Khanna emphasized that the Election Commission exclusively handles the verification process, countering claims by political adversaries.

Khanna's comments came in response to accusations led by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who publicly criticized the SIR via social media, labeling it a 'fraud on democracy.' Yadav speculated that this revision could lead to widespread deletions, affecting voter lists, properties, and more.

Assuring transparency, Khanna reiterated that the ongoing revision is standard practice before elections, concluding on December 4. Meanwhile, the minister also defended collective 'Vande Mataram' singing in schools, asserting its importance as a patriotic duty.
