A tragic incident unfolded in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district when an IED blast claimed the life of a woman and injured two others on Friday evening, local authorities reported.
The explosion occurred in the Saranda forest near Jeraikela Police Station, as a group of women, intent on gathering 'sial' leaves, tripped a device planted by Maoists, confirmed West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Amit Renu.
The injured women are under treatment at Manoharpur hospital, and their condition remains stable. Police noted the blast coincides with an intensive security operation against Maoists, who are believed to be responsible for the explosive act.
