Sri Lanka Declares State of Emergency Amid Cyclone Devastation
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has declared a state of emergency following Cyclone Ditwah's devastation. India is aiding with substantial relief efforts. The cyclone left over 120 dead, disrupted flights, and damaged infrastructure, prompting the need for accelerated relief coordination and rescue operations.

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has declared a state of emergency across the island, responding to the crises unleashed by Cyclone Ditwah. The severe storm caused considerable destruction, leading to a death toll surpassing 120 and numerous people missing.
India has been at the forefront of the relief efforts, delivering more than 27 tonnes of essential supplies via Operation Sagar Bandhu. Two military transport aircraft and the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, alongside 80 National Disaster Response Force personnel, were deployed to assist in rescue operations.
On account of disrupted flight services, the Indian High Commission in Colombo established an emergency helpline and is currently aiding stranded Indian passengers. The state of emergency will facilitate rapid deployment of troops and essential services, crucial for rescue operations and rebuilding efforts.
