A Mumbai-based lawyer, Nitin Shingte, has allegedly fallen victim to a fraudulent real estate scheme involving a MHADA room in Worli, resulting in a loss of Rs 33 lakh. The incident has led to the booking of Navin Natha Gaikwad, who was identified by the police as the perpetrator of the scam.
According to authorities, Shingte, a resident of Kurla, was informed by several individuals about a mill worker's room for sale. These individuals indicated that the necessary documents were in the possession of Gaikwad, prompting a transaction totaling Rs 37.5 lakh, with Shingte paying Rs 15 lakh by cheque and Rs 18 lakh in cash.
Despite assurances, Gaikwad failed to deliver the room within the promised timeframe and subsequently avoided all contact with Shingte.
