The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has launched a strong accusation against the Union government, alleging it is misleading Parliament regarding owed funds under the MGNREGA scheme in West Bengal. At a press conference, TMC leaders emphasized that the Centre owes the state approximately Rs 52,000 crore.
The TMC highlighted that the Rural Development Ministry officially stated pending liabilities stand at Rs 3,082.52 crore as of March 2022. However, TMC claims total dues, including unimplemented scheme projections, amount to Rs 51,700 crore.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's comments on West Bengal's economic situation were also criticized by the TMC, who accuse BJP of communal politics amidst upcoming elections, pointing fingers at suspended TMC MLA involvement in a mosque foundation event.
