BJP MLA Ashish Sharma from Hamirpur is embroiled in controversy after a case was registered against his stone crusher unit for alleged cheating and forgery, according to police reports.
The unit is accused of illegal mining and siphoning off royalty worth over Rs 36.60 lakh, causing significant loss to the state exchequer. Allegations also include misuse of 'X' and 'W' forms for selling mined material.
The Sujanpurtira police have initiated legal proceedings, citing sections of the Indian Penal Code related to cheating, forgery, theft, and conspiracy. Meanwhile, Sharma defends his position, claiming the accusations are politically motivated and plans to file a defamation suit.
