Belgium's Highest Court Rejects Choksi's Extradition Appeal

The Court of Cassation in Belgium, the country's highest judicial authority, has dismissed fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi's appeal against his extradition to India.

Choksi, implicated in a massive Rs 13,000-crore fraud involving Punjab National Bank, challenged India's request for extradition, fearing unfair trial and mistreatment upon return.

However, the Antwerp Court of Appeal reaffirmed that Choksi faces no such risks, corroborating India's assurances about fair treatment. The decision marks a notable advancement in the high-profile case vigorously pursued by Indian authorities.
