A retired Indian Air Force officer was apprehended in Sonitpur district, Assam, on allegations of espionage linked to Pakistani intelligence operatives, authorities reported on Saturday.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police Haricharan Bhumij, initial investigations suggest the suspect exchanged sensitive documents and information with individuals linked to Pakistani intelligence on social media platforms.
Police have confiscated the individual's laptop and mobile phone, which are currently undergoing forensic examination despite attempts to delete certain data. Legal proceedings have commenced, with a case registered under the pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code.
