India has recommenced operations at its visa application centre in Dhaka following a temporary suspension triggered by security concerns. The closure had initially been enforced as tensions surged when anti-India protestors moved toward the Indian High Commission.
Meanwhile, the Indian Visa Application Centres in Khulna and Rajshahi remain non-operational, still shrouded in security issues. Officials confirmed that these facilities in the southwest and northwest of Bangladesh were closed for similar reasons.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs summoned Bangladesh's envoy, Riaz Hamidullah, to discuss the situation, emphasizing the need for the Bangladeshi interim government to ensure the safety of diplomatic missions.
