The Delhi High Court has instructed a city district magistrate to investigate a petition opposing a car enthusiast event on NSIC ground, Okhla, citing poor air quality in the city.
Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia highlighted the urgency, given that the event, 'Burnout City,' is set to take place on January 17. However, the court expressed dissatisfaction with the petition's lack of scientific data linking the event to increased air pollution.
The petition asserts that vehicular stunts at the event will exacerbate air pollution. The court questioned the absence of scientific evidence and noted the petitioner's failure to involve the Commission for Air Quality Management. Consequently, the court has mandated the district magistrate to address the issue as per a representation dated January 4.
