In a significant development, a Delhi court has determined that charges will be framed against Nitin Tyagi, a former MLA from the Aam Aadmi Party. The case pertains to incidents from 2019 where Tyagi, along with his associates, allegedly harassed workers of a private construction firm.
The workers were engaged in the restoration and rejuvenation of the Yamuna flood plains at the time of the alleged incident. The court order, issued by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Mittal on January 13, cites violations under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including section 427 for causing damage, section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt, and others.
However, the court chose to discharge Tyagi of allegations related to causing harm or using force against public servants. The decision marks a notable advancement in the legal proceedings stemming from the 2019 incident.
