In a bid to maintain peace, the Sundargarh administration in Odisha has clamped prohibitory orders and cut internet services following a violent clash that left at least 12 people injured, including police officers.
The confrontation erupted in the Regent Market area over a disagreement about a food item between two youths, escalating into violence with sharp weapons and stones involved. Responding swiftly, police used mild force to re-establish order.
Authorities have shut down all educational institutions and banned public gatherings in the town, with intensified patrolling ensuring peace. Investigations are underway with two cases set to be registered. No arrests have been made, but video evidence is being scrutinized for further action.
