A case has been registered against Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) leader Shibu Baby John and his family for allegedly defrauding a buyer by promising a yet-to-be-delivered apartment in Kadakampally, according to sources on Friday.
The Thiruvananthapuram Medical College police acted upon a complaint filed by K Alex, a 65-year-old resident of Pearl Nagar, leading to the January 10 registration. The First Information Report (FIR) lists multiple accused, including Anta Builders' managing director Midhun Kuruvilla and several members of the John family.
Despite John's assertion that neither he nor his family received any money, police confirm construction delays and unresolved buyer refunds. John, who is gearing up for the Assembly election from Chavara, suggests the complaint arose from electoral pressure and insists on resolving the project handover legally.
