In a swift operation, Delhi Police have successfully cracked the case of a robbery at the Ayyappa Temple in Rohini, northwest Delhi. Officials disclosed that they arrested a burglar and a receiver of stolen goods, recovering all items.
The theft was initially reported by M K Suresh, joint secretary of the temple trust, after discovering several ritual brass and copper artifacts missing on January 17. The North Rohini police station registered an FIR, followed by a detailed investigation employing human intelligence and technical surveillance.
During the investigation, Rakesh Mehto, 22, was identified and apprehended from his hideout. Based on his confession, police raided a shop-cum-residence in Naharpur village, owned by alleged receiver Muneem Gupta, 42. All stolen artifacts, including brass lamps and copper urns, were recovered, and both accused have been arrested. The accused have had previous involvements in similar crimes.
