A revenue inspector from Odisha's Cuttack district has been detained, accused of accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 10,000. This incident unfolded on Thursday morning, according to an official report.
The inspector, assigned to the Kakhadi circle, allegedly requested the payment to forward a favorable report concerning a mutation case. A landowner, seeking a land rights certificate, had filed the case online, requiring an official inspection.
Upon being compelled to pay the bribe, the landowner contacted the Vigilance Department, which promptly set a trap resulting in the inspector's arrest. Seizing the bribe money, authorities have initiated searches across three locations associated with the inspector. The incident has led to a case registered under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018.
