The Delhi Police have successfully disbanded a notorious gang responsible for targeting e-rickshaw drivers, arresting nine individuals for their involvement in a series of vehicle thefts across northeast Delhi. Officials confirmed the operation on Monday, highlighting the culmination of efforts that began with a complaint from an e-rickshaw driver residing in Sonia Vihar.
The driver's report, lodged on January 29, detailed an incident from the night of January 28 when he was robbed by four passengers near CRPF Camp. The robbers fled with his e-rickshaw, triggering an investigation spearheaded by the Khajuri Khas police.
Through a combination of technical analysis and local intelligence, authorities apprehended the suspects, including Shahbaj, Parvej Alam, Sameer, and Aman. Their confessions led to further arrests and the recovery of multiple stolen and altered e-rickshaw parts, solidifying the police's crackdown on this vehicle theft ring.
