As part of its commitment to fulfill poll promises, the Delhi government announced a new welfare initiative involving the distribution of free LPG cylinders during Holi and Diwali. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta revealed that eligible families would receive financial compensation via direct benefit transfer (DBT) to ensure affordability and dignity during the festive seasons.
The cabinet decision allocates a budget of Rs 242 crore for the initiative, covering both LPG and PNG users holding ration cards. Beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will see adjusted financial aid, while non-Ujjwala families will be fully covered for the Rs 853 cylinder cost, according to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office.
The BJP's manifesto promises are steadily turning into reality, as seen with this scheme. It highlights the Delhi government's ongoing efforts to implement targeted welfare policies that ensure transparency and accountability. While the budget provision aligns with fluctuating LPG prices, the commitment to provide this aid as a universal socioeconomic support remains unwavering.
