The projects include an AYUSH Hospital-cum-Ayurvedic College, an Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) campus, an Archery Centre, city beautification and drainage upgradation works, an Auditorium and Cultural Centre, a Girls’ Hostel and a Deaddiction Centre. Together, these initiatives are expected to significantly strengthen regional infrastructure, expand access to education and healthcare, and generate new employment opportunities.
Purvodaya Vision Driving Odisha’s Growth
Addressing the gathering, the President said that the Purvodaya vision of the Government of India places special emphasis on the development of eastern India, with Odisha emerging as a key beneficiary. She noted that Mayurbhanj district is witnessing tangible gains through development-oriented projects, institutions and welfare schemes.
She expressed confidence that the new campuses and public infrastructure projects would catalyse local growth, improve quality of life and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for the people of the region.
Focus on Tribal Welfare and Economic Empowerment
Highlighting the government’s commitment to tribal development, the President said special efforts are being made for the economic empowerment of tribal communities. She cited key initiatives such as the provision of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for more than 90 minor forest products under the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana, micro-credit support to tribal self-help groups, and low-interest loans for Scheduled Tribe women under the Tribal Women Empowerment Scheme.
She also referred to targeted interventions in health, education and infrastructure, including the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri-JANMAN Yojana for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), electrification of tribal-dominated areas and the expansion of 4G internet connectivity in remote regions.
Education, Health and Sports Infrastructure
The inauguration of the IT campus and the foundation of the OUAT campus are expected to strengthen higher education and skill development in the region, while the AYUSH Hospital-cum-Ayurvedic College will enhance access to affordable and traditional healthcare. The Archery Centre aims to promote sports talent, particularly among tribal youth, while the Girls’ Hostel and Deaddiction Centre address critical social and welfare needs.
Urban infrastructure projects such as drainage upgradation, city beautification, and the construction of an Auditorium and Cultural Centre are designed to support planned urban growth and preserve local cultural heritage.
Development of Tribal Communities Key to Viksit Bharat
The President underlined that the upliftment of the poorest sections of society is intrinsically linked to the development of tribal communities. She said the Government is working continuously to ensure that tribal populations receive the full benefits of welfare and development schemes.
Urging citizens to actively participate, she called upon people to avail government schemes and spread awareness within their communities. She emphasised that local development leads to state development, which in turn contributes to national progress.
She concluded by stating that the collective efforts of the government and citizens are essential to realise the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
