Himachal's New Police Reforms: Honoring Service and Enhancing Integrity

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu unveiled new reforms in the Himachal Pradesh Police, granting honorary promotions to ex-servicemen and boosting force strength. The measures aim to enhance public service delivery and transparency while countering drug abuse and ensuring rapid response times.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced significant reforms in the Himachal Pradesh Police on Wednesday, aimed at recognizing the contributions of ex-servicemen and bolstering the police force. Honorary promotions will be granted to ex-servicemen, with honorary head constable ranks after 10 years and assistant sub-inspector positions after 15 years of service.

The Himachal Pradesh government plans to recruit 800 additional police constables within the next two months to enhance public service delivery. During the 'Rozgar Sankalp Mela' at the Police College in Daroh, Kangra district, Sukhu distributed appointment letters to 1,253 new constables, highlighting their crucial role in combating drug abuse.

Criticizing the previous BJP government for examination paper leaks, Sukhu emphasized the current administration's commitment to fairness, conducting recruitment exams through the Public Service Commission. He noted that the Himachal Pradesh Police excelled in response times, ranking top nationwide in several performance indicators.
