In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, authorities in Thane district of Maharashtra have seized dry opium valued at Rs 38 lakh. The operation, conducted near a road crusher unit between Ovlikhind and Mankoli in Bhiwandi, culminated in the arrest of one suspect while another managed to escape.
The individual apprehended has been identified as Rakeshkumar Bhavarlal Godara, a 30-year-old resident of Chhattisgarh. Officials reported a team on patrol had noticed suspicious activity involving a car and a pickup van, leading to the discovery and confiscation of the contraband.
Law enforcement is currently tracing the origins and destination of the seized opium, with efforts continuing to locate the second suspect. Officials are committed to dismantling the networks responsible for trafficking such illicit substances.
