A lawyer, Chandresh Verma, is in critical condition following an attack related to a land dispute in Veer Balpurwa village, police reported on Saturday.
Verma, a practicing lawyer, was ambushed by a group of six to seven individuals while visiting a nearby field. They first assaulted him before shooting him in the abdomen.
The attack is believed to stem from a long-standing dispute over eight bighas of land fraudulently transferred, according to Verma. A thorough investigation is underway, police confirmed, with assurances of justice following the incident.
