R N Ravi, a former Indian Police Service officer, was officially sworn in as the 22nd governor of West Bengal in a formal ceremony held at Lok Bhavan on Thursday morning.
The oath was administered by Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court, Sujoy Paul, in the presence of distinguished attendees such as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee.
Notably, no members of the opposition BJP were present at the event, which also saw the attendance of several senior bureaucrats and law enforcement officials. Ravi's appointment followed the resignation of previous governor C V Ananda Bose, and he brings experience from his tenure as governor in multiple northeastern states.
