The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Commissioner, Mike Duheme, has declared that there are no longer any clandestine activities or transnational repressions in Canada connected to the Indian government. Discussing the subject with CTV News, Duheme emphasized that current investigations do not reveal any links to foreign entities.

Duheme's comments follow a period of diplomatic tension between Canada and India, exacerbated by former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's 2023 claims of Indian involvement in the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar—accusations dismissed by India as "absurd." Subsequent actions saw both governments recalling diplomats.

As diplomatic strains begin to ease, marked by the electoral victory of Liberal Party leader Mark Carney, both nations have reinstated high commissioners. Recent visits included discussions on essential economic agreements, aiming to foster a comprehensive partnership agreement.
