In a sharp criticism of Assam's current security framework, Congress General Secretary Jitendra Singh raised concerns following a militant attack on a police commando camp by ULFA(I). He indicated the attack signifies a broader issue of fragile internal security in the state.
The attack, which occurred at Jagun in Tinsukia district, left at least four security personnel injured. Singh alleged that the state government, led by the BJP, has failed to deliver on promises of strong action against such threats.
As the state teeters on the edge of elections, Singh predicts that voters will hold the ruling party accountable for perceived negligence in security and demand improvements in job opportunities and economic conditions.
