Manipur's Path to Peace: Home Minister's Strategic Meeting with CM Singh

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the state’s law and order situation. Shah emphasized accelerating peace efforts and approved the proposal for a Mahila India Reserve Battalion to enhance security. Singh expressed gratitude and plans further meetings with central leaders.

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday to discuss the state's law and order issues. The meeting, held at Parliament House, was aimed at accelerating the ongoing peace process in Manipur.

Minister Shah suggested the formation of a Mahila India Reserve Battalion to strengthen internal security. He asked Singh to expedite the proposal, as communal harmony remains a priority amid the ethnic tensions between the Meitei and Kuki communities.

Since the ethnic violence in May 2023, which followed the 'Tribal Solidarity March,' Manipur has been striving to restore peace. The state was under President's rule until Chief Minister Singh's appointment in February this year. Further discussions with central leaders are scheduled.
